Landlords and Tenants – Eviction Moratorium Update To The Prior Update

California just extended the law until June 30th that protects residential tenants who have a pending application for money to pay back rent that the tenant could not pay because of the COVID-19 pandemic.  The law extension will stop residential evictions for people who have applied for assistance, but it will not give renters more time to apply for the government funds from the Emergency Rental Assistance Program. Starting today, anyone who has not applied for assistance can be evicted for unpaid rent (unless some local governmental authority extended the moratorium, which is a patchwork of entities).
